A journey into the world of the small

Swiss jumpers

In Switzerland around 75 species of jumping spiders can be found. Some only in the warmer regions in the south (Tessin), others only in higher altitudes. One of the most common species in Switzerland is "Salticus scenicus", the theatrical jumper, or "Zebra jumping spider". These little critters can even be found on a mild winter day.

Zebra jumping spiders often can be found on brick walls, fences or facades. They even feel at home inside houses and apartments. Their name was given to them because of the characteristic stripe pattern.

If you ever have observed one of these little hunters you surely agree with me, that "Tiger jumping spider" would suit them much better.
